More books, more coffee, more hours in pj&#8217;s, and more meditation on the Creator who orchestrated such beauty for our pleasure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Organizing Your Life <\/strong>&#8211; Leadership coach\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/paulsohn.org\/about-me\/\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Sohn<\/a> has posted the most fascinating <a href=\"http:\/\/paulsohn.org\/how-to-be-the-most-organized-person-in-the-world-infographic\/\" target=\"_blank\">infographic<\/a>\u00a0on organizing your life &#8211; not just your home space, but your work and social media spaces. The news stream is so full and fast-moving.\u00a0 About a year ago, National Geographic showcased a <a href=\"http:\/\/video.nationalgeographic.com\/video\/short-film-showcase\/syrian-refugees-a-human-crisis-revealed-in-a-powerful-short-film\" target=\"_blank\">short film <\/a>by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liorsperandeo.com\/About-me\" target=\"_blank\">Lior Sperandeo<\/a>\u00a0entitled <em>People of Nowhere<\/em>. It puts the film-watcher on the seashore as boat after boat of Syrian refugees arrive, some barely alive&#8230;leaving everything and desperately risking all they have left &#8211; each other and life itself. Out of this edgy sometimes dark comedy came a song that is known and loved by the show&#8217;s fandom &#8211; that song being <a href=\"http:\/\/itsalwayssunny.wikia.com\/wiki\/The_Dayman\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Dayman<\/em><\/a>. Here is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TzaVd6zl2bA\" target=\"_blank\">clip<\/a> from the show and below is the cover arranged for classical guitar by Nathan at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/beyondtheguitar\" target=\"_blank\">Beyond the Guitar<\/a>. There is no hope for unity unless we do the work to forging a path. Therein lies the possibility. They either count like we do or they don&#8217;t. In the former case we regard them as we regard ourselves, we say our hearts are at peace toward them. In the latter case, since we systematically view them as inferior, we say our hearts are at war.&#8217; If we continue to believe that we are on the superior side of the argument, we will only objectivity, vilify, and perpetuate conflict.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Finding healthy unity that embraces difference is no easy hunt.\u00a0We prefer to retreat into our tribal groups among people who think and act like us.\u00a0We say we value different points of view but rarely seek them out.\u00a0We feign listening but are really just forming our next rebuttal.\u00a0All of that is unity\u2019s most insidious counterfeit \u2013 uniformity.\u00a0We are seduced by the enjoyment of confusing sameness with unity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We fear that adapting our viewpoints is compromising our values (spoiler alert: it\u2019s not). But<\/em><strong><em> true unity is hard, gritty, messy work.\u00a0It takes guts to let go of the need to be right.\u00a0It takes the deepest of principles to understand your \u201cenemy\u2019s\u201d views rather than vilify them.\u00a0And only the greatest of organizations, communities, and leaders will take the leap of faith away from their staunchly held ideals in the belief, hope, and determination that there is room for both theirs, and others, ideals.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0&#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.navalent.com\/resources\/blog\/division-everywhere-unity-possible#comment-589\" target=\"_blank\">Jarrod Shappell, Navalent<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, from Philip Yancey:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Francis Schaeffer added,<strong> &#8216;Love\u2014and the unity it attests to\u2014is the mark Christ gave Christians to wear before the world.\u00a0 Only with this mark may the world know that Christians are indeed Christians and that Jesus was sent by the Father.\u2026It is possible to be a Christian without showing the mark, but if we expect non-Christians to know that we are Christians, we must show the mark.&#8217;\u00a0 I see that as the biggest challenge facing committed Christians in the new year.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>As the dust settles from the storm of 2016, I pray that those of us who follow Jesus remember that mark above all.\u00a0 The apostle Paul used these words to describe the characteristics of a true Christian: humility, charity, joy, peace, gentleness, forbearance, patience, goodness, self-control\u2014words in short supply last election year.\u00a0 Republicans will busy themselves with the difficult task of governing a factious nation in a perilous world.\u00a0 Democrats will huddle to devise a new playbook.\u00a0 May Christians of all persuasions remember that our ultimate allegiance and our ultimate hope belong to neither party.\u00a0 As resident aliens in a divided nation, may we too form pioneer settlements to show the world the Jesus way.&#8221;<\/em> &#8211; Philip Yancey, <a href=\"http:\/\/philipyancey.com\/election-reflections-bridging-gap\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Election Reflections: Bridging the Gap<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bonus:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kris_Kristofferson\" target=\"_blank\">Kris Kristofferson<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Story behind his song <em>Why Me, Lord?<\/em> and the latest on this man&#8217;s amazing life:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Why Me Lord  Story - Told and Sung By kris kristofferson\" width=\"474\" height=\"356\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1tA7E7pbUws?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/kriskristofferson.com\/rolling-stone-kris-kristofferson-an-outlaw-at-80\/<\/p>\n<p>Have a great, great weekend.
