Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. \u2013 John 20:1\u00a0 <\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Mary Magdalene came, announcing to the disciples, \u201cI have seen the Lord\u201d.<\/span> <\/strong>\u2013 John 20:18<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

On this Sunday, this most glorious day in all of history, death gave way to life. The grave could not hold Jesus. In the early morning, a small group of women who had loved and followed this Jesus, came to the tomb, guarded and sealed, and found it empty. Then ones, twos, small groups, and a crowd of 500<\/a> saw him alive. Jesus himself, bearing the wounds of the cross, walking with them, eating with them, teaching them again\u2026as he promised.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He is alive! This man from Nazareth, the Messiah of Israel, the Lord of the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

With the breath of creation, He speaks\u00a0of peace, faith, and mission.<\/em><\/p>\n

With lungs full of air, He breathes\u00a0on His disciples and grants\u00a0His Spirit.\u00a0My Jesus \u2013\u00a0alive!<\/em><\/p>\n

Oh the joy\u2026the indescribable joy of that reality. He died and yet he lives. We were dead in our sins, and because of him, we have life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Take the time to read this amazing story yourself. The Gospel writers all\u00a0have given\u00a0detailed accounts of\u00a0the risen Christ ( Matthew 28:1-13<\/a>, Mark 16:1-14<\/a>, Luke 24:1-49<\/a>, and John 20:1-29<\/a>). The Apostle Paul also wrote about Jesus\u2019 resurrection in his letter to the Corinthian church (1 Corinthians 15<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.<\/span>\u00a0 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.<\/span>\u00a0 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive\u2026<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cDeath is swallowed up in victory.\u201d<\/span><\/em>
\n\u201cO death, where is your victory?<\/span><\/em>
\n\u00a0 <\/span>O death, where is your sting?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong> But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.<\/strong> \u2013 1 Cor. 15:20-22, 55-57<\/a>
