For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.\u201d When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled\u2026 \u2013 <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%202:1-12&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew 2:1-3a<\/a><em><br><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cArise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.\u201d<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianity.com\/bible\/niv\/isaiah\/60-1-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Isaiah 60:1-3<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together, against the LORD and against His Anointed One\u2026[Then He rebuked them] \u201cI have installed My King on Zion, upon My holy mountain.\u201d&nbsp;I will proclaim the decree spoken to Me by the LORD: \u201cYou are My Son; today I have become Your Father.&nbsp; Ask Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance, the ends of the earth Your possession.\u201d \u2013<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/psalms\/2-2.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Psalm 2:2, 6-8<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebration of Christmas 2025 actually draws out to January 6, 2026. 12 days of Christmas climaxing on <a href=\"https:\/\/newspring.cc\/articles\/what-is-epiphany-and-why-does-it-matter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Epiphany<\/a>, or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.countryliving.com\/life\/a30142058\/three-kings-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Three Kings Day<\/a>. We are reminded of the kings (wise men) who searched out the young child Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%202:1-12&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew\u2019s Gospel<\/a>, we read of three different types of kings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jesus, only begotten Son of God, born King of the Jews\u2026and King of Kings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>King Herod \u2013 one of the \u201ckings of the earth\u201d \u2013 serving his own ego, threatened by the news of King Jesus, responsible for the deaths of all those boys under the age of two, in his attempt to kill Jesus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Magi (Wise Men) who sought the prophesied birth of a king, following a star, until they found Jesus and worshiped him.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I personally love <em>the 12 Days of Christmas <\/em>which actually end on Epiphany (January 6). The parties and gifts are finished, and in the quieter days afterward, reflection is easier to come by. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdermusic.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.crowdermusic.com\/\">David Crowder<\/a> even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jht281DMEMc\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jht281DMEMc\">talks about this<\/a> in one of his live albums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These kings who did the work of study and watching for signs were rewarded by an actual visit with the Savior. They traveled a long way to see him, even altering their return visit to avoid betraying him to another king\u2026Herod. We don\u2019t know when, for sure, that they visited the Christ child. Their bringing gifts came just at the time, when resources were needed for the flight to Egypt to avoid evil King Herod\u2019s wrath on the Christ child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How thankful we are to God for these persevering, worshipful Eastern kings!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotquestions.org\/three-wise-men.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>What Does the Bible Say About the Three Wise Men (Magi)?<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/reasonsforhopejesus.com\/did-the-wise-men-arrive-12-days-after-jesus-birth-or-much-later\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Did the Wise men (Magi) Arrive 12 Days After Jesus\u2019 Birth? Or Was It Much Later?<\/em> \u2013 Shari Abbott<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How thankful we are also when we see the hardships caused by modern-day King Herods. We know from Scripture that the reigns of these <em>kings of the earth<\/em> will come to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/salvationforall.org\/2_Is_Salvation_For_All_Biblical\/8-kings.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The Kings of the Earth<\/em> <\/a>\u2013 a brief and excellent study<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Revelation, the Apostle John wrote about the New Jerusalem where we hear one final time about \u201cthe kings of the earth\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its lamp.&nbsp;By its light the nations will walk, and into it the kings of the earth will bring their glory\u2026And into the city will be brought the glory and honor of the nations. \u201c<\/em> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblehub.com\/revelation\/21-22.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Revelation 21:22-24, 26<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As we celebrate the last day of Christmas 2025, a beautiful concert came to mind. In the performance of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Saviour-Story-Gods-Passion-People\/dp\/B000002MSO\/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=saviour&amp;qid=1641482345&amp;sr=8-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Saviour<\/em><\/a>, we are reminded of (ok\u2026not of the kings who visited the Christ child\u2026but) <em>the kings of the earth<\/em>. Those rulers and authorities who wage war against the Kingdom of God. We are reminded that their days are numbered.
