[From the Archives – for some friends going through a hard place, with courage and faith – because they know they are not alone.]<\/p>\n

On that day, when evening came, He *said to them, \u201cLet us go over to the other side.\u201d<\/span> Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him.<\/span> And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up.<\/span> Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, \u201cTeacher, do You not care that we are perishing?\u201d<\/span> And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, \u201cHush, be still.\u201d<\/span> And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.<\/span> And He said to them, \u201cWhy are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?\u201d<\/span><\/span> They became very much afraid and said to one another, \u201cWho then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?\u201d \u2013 Mark 4:35-41<\/span><\/u><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

What in your life right now has made you doubt a good outcome or happy ending? Is it a tough marriage, a job that no longer satisfies, wayward children, a scary health situation? We are all faced with storms in life that can knock us off our feet and even\u00a0shake our foundation of faith.<\/p>\n

My husband reminds me\u00a0from time to time\u00a0that our faith is only as good as the object of our faith<\/strong>. If we put our trust in our jobs, our health, our family or friend connections, we will be disappointed, just as we disappoint sometimes. If, however, we keep our eyes on God, He will see us through any and every storm that breaks over our lives.<\/p>\n

The Apostle Peter gave us a keen example of keeping our eyes on God when he, by faith, stepped out of his boat, into a miracle. Seeing Jesus walking through an impossible situation (atop the sea), he joined Him\u2026such a great lesson for us:<\/p>\n

Peter said to Him, \u201cLord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.\u201d And He said, \u201cCome!\u201d And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.<\/span> But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, \u201cLord, save me!\u201d Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, \u201cYou of little faith, why did you doubt?\u201d When they got into the boat, the wind stopped.<\/span> And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, \u201cYou are certainly God\u2019s Son!\u201d \u2013 Matthew 14:28-33<\/span><\/u><\/a><\/p>\n

Peter doubted, but he was not punished for that. He was rescued out of his doubt\u2026as he clung to the One who took hold of him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMy prayer for this song and what I\u2019ve seen it do already is just to comfort people in really, really deep and hard times \u2013 the disappointments and the disillusionments, you know and just get to shake off self-pity for the rest of our lives. He really encountered me when I needed it the most. I needed rescue, salvation and I needed faithfulness and He came through for me, so now my faith is faith and it\u2019s not just hope. We can hope that God is real all our lives, but why not know that He\u2019s real?\u201d<\/strong> \u2013 Kristene DiMarco<\/span><\/u><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Lean hard on God and on those who love Him and love you.<\/p>\n
